City of Boulder has launched a guaranteed income project called Elevate Boulder

Jennifer Crowell | Published on 11/28/2023

On Monday, October 30, 2023 the City of Boulder launched Elevate Boulder, a guaranteed income pilot project. Through this project the city will provide 200 low-income Boulder households with $500 per month for two years. This assistance is unconditional and unrestricted; no strings attached.

Here are a few other notes about the project:

  • If a client or tenant reaches out to you wondering if the project is legitimate and real: it is! We encourage all Boulder community members and partner agencies to check out the project webpage for basic information. The webpage and the application itself contain an email address and phone number staffed by a city project team member; and six nonprofit organizations are assisting community members who need help in this process.

  • In the Benefits Guide and the application, we note that the city is not able to provide legal advice or guidance regarding benefits impacts. We encourage applicants to explore possible impacts and be in touch with benefits program staff for additional information or guidance.

  • There are some instances in the Elevate Boulder application where the applicant can choose to ask a landlord or nonprofit organization by email, to attest their physical address. If this applies to you, and if the applicant has in fact been a city resident for the required timeframe, they hope you will be able to assist the applicant by responding as directed in the email.
