On Tuesday this week, HB25-1117 Vehicles Immobilization Company Regulation (booting bill) was up in Committee. BARHA Board member Ryan Schneider testified on behalf of BARHA in an Amend Position. Many thanks to Ryan for expressing BARHA’s concerns on this proposed bill. Despite Ryan’s comments and those of many others, the bill passed committee on an 8-5 vote. As you may recall, the bill as written has very long timelines before we would be able to boot vehicles for parking illegally. Due to the warning system allowed in the bill, a car could park illegally without any repercussion for as long as 48 hours. There were some amendments to the bill, but they did not address these timelines. We are hopeful some additional amendments will occur on the House floor. Thanks to those members who emailed their legislators on this bill.
