NEW Advocacy - BARHA HELPS OWNERS WITH THE BACKFLOW ISSUE
The City of Boulder has sent letters to any property owner who they thought was not in compliance with the State mandated Backflow regulations that the City has recently begun to enforce.
BARHA was able to get the City to agree to exempt all properties that were 8 units or less (we very much appreciate the City’s cooperation on this matter). Hundreds of rental properties 8 units or smaller were spared significant expense to install the backflow preventers as well as more costs in the future for required annual inspections by BARHA’s involvement in this issue.
If you received a letter from the city about your property, you will find an exemption form in this new letter. You must fill that out and return it to the city to be exempt from the mandatory install and yearly testing. If you have not received a letter, then you need to do nothing on this issue. The City does have a right to turn off water to a property, so if you have not already done so, you need to give that letter your prompt attention.
